Chuck Herron
is a native of Kingsport, Tennessee
located in upper-east Tennessee.
He completed his Bachelor of Music
degree in Trumpet Performance and Music
Education at the University of Georgia
in 2003. While attending UGA he was a
lead trumpet player in Jazz I and the
Redcoat Marching Band. He also
participated in Wind Symphony, Symphony
Band, and Georgia Brass. In the 2001
marching season he was the battle hymn
trumpet soloist. Mr. Herron studied
trumpet privately with Dr. Edward Sandor,
Fred Mills of the Canadian Brass, Dr.
Matthew Inkster, and Mr. Ronald Wilcox.
His work as an educator over the years
includes being a brass staff member for
Dobyns Bennett High School and Robinson
Middle School in Kingsport, Tennessee
and John Battle High School in Abingdon,
Virginia. During the past four years
Mr. Herron has served as Director of
Bands at Central High School in Macon,
Georgia. Bands at Central have doubled
in size under Mr. Herron’s direction and
received Superior Ratings at Concert and
Marching festivals. Several of his
students were placed in District Honor
Band, South Georgia Region Band, and
Georgia All State Band. He is a member
of GMEA, MENC, Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia,
Kappa Kappa Psi, and PAGE.
Mr. Herron is married to Lianne Heller
of Perry who is the band director at
Thomson Middle School. They currently
reside in Kathleen, GA and are expecting
their first child, Annie Margaret in
November. |
